i don't know how ms. dunea did it, but she managed to make another EXQUISITE book on this clever concept. her photos all reflect the personality of the subject with creativity and a whimsical feeling; the selection of chefs is wonderful; recipes interesting (and work!) ; and, of course, quality of the book excellent. a MUST for the coffee table and the holiday gift list!

I purchased this book after seeing the author on TV discussing the concept and recipes with some celebrity chefs featured in the book. I knew I had to run out and get a copy. Its a truly amazing book and a must have for any foodie! I have since bought several copies to give as holiday gifts to friends and fellow food lovers this year! Not only do we get a glimpse inside the world of all these amazing chefs but the recipes are fabulous and the photography stunning.
This book is a must have and I highly suggest it to anyone who enjoys all things food.

About the Author
Born in Indiana, Nancy Marchant first encountered brioche when she moved to the Netherlands in 1976. She has written articles about and designed knitwear featuring brioche stitch for Vogue Knitting and many other knitting magazines, and is also the author of the bestselling Knitting Brioche (North Light). She maintains a website at briocheknitting.com and teaches the technique at consumer and trade shows across the US as well as in an online class on craftsy.com called “Explorations in Brioche Knitting.” Nancy lives in Amsterdam.

Meet your new bestfriend, Nancy Marchant.

Years ago, I paid for a private lesson to learn how to knit basic two color brioche and walked away with empty pockets with no results. I took Nancy's brioche knitting class on Craftsy and made two scarves in a month. I loved it so much that I had to get this book to keep myself in practice. Brioche knitting is fun and addictive. The stitch patterns shown in this book are stunning and I found myself saying to my husband that Nancy Marchant is the Alice Starmore of Brioche knitting. He said, "That is high praise." He loves the book too and everyone has made requests already.. There is not one thing in this book that I do not want to do. The patterns and stitch designs are so nice. You can't help but be inspired. This one is a keeper!

Reversible, versatile brioche stitch

Brioche stitch is a form of slipped stitch knitting (you slip the stitch from the row beneath and make a slipped stitch-yarnover unit.) As with other slipped stitch fabrics, like mosaic knitting, it lends itself to two color work with ease and it's reversible. You can do circular knitting but because you need a right and a wrong side, you do a row 1 and a row 2 (like making garter stitch in circular knitting.) You can make swaths of intricate fabric that looks a bit like k1 p1 rib.

The fabrics created in "Fresh Brioche" are not like any I've seen before. In particular, there is a "cathedral" stitch I've never laid eyes on before. A lot of stitches look like waves, others like vines and leaves. The patterns created from the stitch variations are mostly shawls and cowls. Some of the patterns use light mohair, showing you that brioche stitch does not have to be made from smooth, heavier yarns, and that it can even create a lacy effect.

If you love to collect knitting stitch patterns, and if you love brioche stitch, this book has unusual and new ways to use brioche. It is somewhat limited in the pattern item selections, but this book is more a stitch book than a knitting pattern book. The stitches are eye-catching.

Brioche knitting for the noob or the master!

Yes, there are projects in this book. But it's so much more than that! Nancy not only gives you beautiful patterns to knit, she also gives you a fabulous foundation for brioche knitting that will allow you to completely understand the way that brioche fabric is made so that you can create your own brioche patterns. I love this book and would recommend it to anyone who wants to either learn basic brioche knitting or master it. As an added benefit, Nancy Marchant and Mercedes Tarasovich-Clark both teach Craftsy classes on brioche knitting. So if you buy this book (or any other brioche knitting tome) and find yourself baffled, head over and take a class on it! Start with Nancy's class if you knit English or Mercedes's class if you knit continental. I found that Nancy's brioche knitting is much more intricate and masterful, but that some people had a hard time understanding her techniques because she throws instead of picks. Good luck!

Roosevelt's glamorous twenty-one year old daughter Alice served as mistress of the cruise, which included senators and congressmen. On this trip, Taft concluded secret agreements in Roosevelt's name. In 2005, a century later, James Bradley traveled in the wake of Roosevelt's mission and discovered what had transpired in Honolulu, Tokyo, Manila, Beijing and Seoul. In 1905, Roosevelt was bully-confident and made secret agreements that he though would secure America's westward push into the Pacific. Instead, he lit the long fuse on the Asian firecrackers that would singe America's hands for a century. Bradley's first books, Flags of Our Fathers (2000) and Flyboys (2003), were sensationally popular World War II combat stories. His new one, about U.S.-Japanese diplomacy in 1905, represents a departure. Asserting a causal connection between diplomatic understandings reached then and war 36 years later, Bradley dramatizes his case with a delegation Theodore Roosevelt dispatched to Japan in the summer of 1905. Led by Secretary of War William Taft and ornamented by the president's quotable daughter Alice, it sailed while TR hosted the peace conference between victorious Japan and defeated Russia. As he recounts the itinerary of Taft's cruise, Bradley discusses attitudes of social Darwinism and white superiority that were then prevalent and expressed by TR and Taft. They modified their instincts, Bradley argues, in dealing with nonwhite Japan, and secretly conceded it possession of Korea. This is what Bradley asserts was a prerequisite to Pearl Harbor in 1941, a dubious thesis when the tensions of the 1930s stemmed from general Japanese aggressiveness, not its control of Korea per se. "An Outrage, Pure and Simple" (Wm. Tilchin)

Having finished the first 2 volumes of Edmund Morris' brilliant biography of TR, I foolishly blindly took someone's recommendation of this book. After reading the first few pages I suspected the author was a hack writer and fake historian who could not possibly carry the burden of his ridiculous premise that TR was essentially responsible for all of the wars and other ills of the 20th century. A simple Google search revealed that I was right. See http://historynewsnetwork.org/article/140862 . The list in that review of simple historical facts that Bradley got wrong is enough to condemn the book I will be tossing it in the trash and going on to Morris Volume 3.

Should be required high school reading

Whenever I read a book relating to history I will take a careful look at the references that are referred to. In the case of Bradley's book not only are the references extensive but can be will documented. If you talk with the natives in Hawaii you will find that they have little love for the United States. It is quite easy to document the displays at the World's Fair in 1904 in St. Louis, which speak to the truth of Bradley's book. This book should be required reading for every high school student. Roosevelt's carving on Mt. Rushmore should be chipped off.

James Bradley is masterful. Imperial Cruise, the third of Flags of our Fathers and Fly Boys, investigates and finds how, why, what, and who set in motion conditions and international relationships that eventually resulted in WW II in the pacific. It gave me an insight into Teddy Roosevelt's foreign affairs management that differs substantially from just the bravado and trust busting people's person that I was previously led to believe. Mount Rushmore has one too many faces on it.

Excellent coloring book of Marty Noble's natural and organic drawings of traditional mandalas and Buddhist artwork. A Favorite!

Marty Noble has hand drawn ancient depictions of several images of the Buddha and various lamas, saints and other well known Buddhist teachers.

This book also includes traditional mandala forms of astrological designs, the Golden Wheel, ritual transmission bells, green (compassionate) and white (all seeing) Tara or Quan Yin (female Buddhist deities). There are also lions, elephants, bulls, rams, dragons, horses included as energetic forces or in the background of some of the designs. This equals to a varied representation of Tibetan religious art spanning over seven centuries.

Particulars in this book:
~ 31 framed designs
~ some are squares with mandalas in the center
~ some are pictures of lamas, Buddha and other religious figures, both male and female
~ pages are perforated for easy removal
~ printing is excellent with fine and accurate lines
~ there is a description of each image located along the perforated edge

Most enjoyable Tibetan art for coloring

Oh, how I love this book! Very detailed and beautiful Buddhist religious art. I'm absolutely hooked on these coloring books, but I must say this one is such a joy to color. Buddhas, deities, mandalas etc. Again, as with all Creative Haven books -- each illustration is printed on one side, and on perforated paper.

Now, most of the illustrations are quite detailed. I suggest having some ultra-fine tip markers on hand. I had to use some fine tips along with my brush pens. This is a must for those teeny-tiny areas. It's a bit of a challenge, but very rewarding. Hours of meditative coloring here.

These designs are so detailed and make for hours of coloring fun. I use coloring as meditation so these designs naturally lend themselves to that purpose. Great deal.

My new favorite travel guide book!

I used to be a DK Travel Guide fan but they didn't have the Norway one in stock so I bought this one. I am now an Insight Guide Fan. I will buy these travel books from now on. I love how it gives the colorful history up front. There are many beautiful photos and explanations of the culture but it doesn't get overwhelming.

Not much information on Northern Norway

We bought this book because we were traveling to Northern Norway in January to see the Northern Lights. There is really pretty little information on this region in the book (at least the parts we visited: Tromso and Lofoten plus a short Hurtigruten cruise). So it was not a very good investment for us.

I actually had borrowed this book from my local library before I bought it. It seems to me that everyone that is new to eBay should get a copy of this book to use as their eBay bible. Tons of information necessary for beginners. Made me confident that I could start my business on eBay and not get run over. If you are new to eBay, get this book!

A MUST READ...FOR ALL EBAY USERS

This insightful, intelligent and extremely humorous book is for all ebay users. I am no newbie to eBay but goodness me the section on shipping alone is worth it's weight in gold. But I must tell you all that this book is VERY FUNNY. It's out-loud funny. The last time I laughed out load reading a book was when I read Auntie Mame. If you like to laugh or smile then this book is for you. I highly recommend it (even if you don't use ebay).

SAC 375 an Exercise in Patience

This book was purchased for a class at the U of M. It is a pretty detailed book about the cultural discourses of television, its methods of production, genre categorization and the social influences on society. It is a multi national view. Articles are really interesting but often long winded and convoluted. If you are into this kind of thing--this is the book for you.
