Could be the most comprehensive & monumental Cayce book ever; incl. Jesus & earth's Creation

Its really a story of humnaity's creation & creation of the world as much as it is a tale of Cayce's incarnations. This was the book my grandmother always said was her favorite that i should read, but was a bit convoluted for a 13 year old. But now it strikes you as those wow moments, which were many. In fact the 1st several chapters cover more of Christ's incarnations than they do of Cayce's. It is all intertwined. While a good writer, he just sort of picks a chapter title & fills it with all kinds of great stuff.
I was surprised this was as good if not better than the story of Jesus by whats his face & the other book by Sanderfur, which considered two best classics on cayce's work, not Cayce himself. but having read another church's or church-hill's books, story of the soul, & it wa so good, i saw what else he wrote. This was even better than that.
Possibly, like granma said, the best comprehensive cayce book ever. Ansers not only the lost years of jesus explained, welll, brushed over actually, but the only book i ever read that told in details and comprhensively about the Persian experiences of both Cayce & Jesus-- very hard-to-find matrial., Also, it does a better job at explaining the creating of the world & us, & the purpose for the world. The last 2 chapters were big time wow, telling us how to find Jesus returning as a man ibn the same body & Cayce's next 2 approaching incarnations.
When he says Jesus would return in the same body, with the wounds still, even before Cayce, who bunny hopped throughout millenia alongside Cayce, it was humbling. Like 36 lives or something. Of course Cayce was not revealed this until the end of his life "so it would not go to his head." Apparentlly, Cayce will come again twice & maybe Jesus once more or twice--i'm still trying to figure this out, or actually re-read it. It was very "Wow."
Another recent highly good book i must reccommend another author, more detailed in rehashing the readings on religion & angels, by a minister (Va.Beach)--cant recall name-- was "The Angels Are Talking- Are We Listening." That ministerial author explains very well the concepts of Karma along side the grace of divine forgiveness & what people or beings on other worlds think of Jesus, how they relate. It was a real eye-opener too, right from the purest sourcem, Cayce-- who always said to look within, since God is in each of us. He was never a medium in the normal sense. His readings were directly from the Akashic records, usually, sometimes or often directed by archangel michael, etc.
This CHurchill's book here, Many Happy Returns: the lives of edgar cayce." it is quite possibly the best book ever written (pardon the typos)-- monumental in its revelations. She said it was the most important book she ever read & it could be-- it just might be.

Enchanting Book!

This one is hard to resist. First, the quality of this book is remarkable. All of my Stitch publication books are fine and this one may be the most fine. Also, the photographs of Takahara's quilts are works of art in themselves so I am enjoying it as a coffee table book so far, not having ventured into needle turn appliquing one of these animated little children. I'm screwing up my courage by studying her instructions. It looks doable!

Be advised that this book is different from the Yoko Saito quilting books in that there are no traditional quilt patterns here. But the author, artist that she is, has provided patterns of all the necessary figures for you to use of build your own quilts, mixing the figures as you like or referring to the photographs of her quilts if you prefer to do it that way. This may become on of my favorite books.

A beautiful publication of a wonderful fabric artist

The applique art of Takahara, a true fabric artist, is so amazing! She captures both the ordinary and the special moments of life--with a needle, thread, and fabric--from whimsical to nostalgic settings. Don't be put off by the intricacy of her designs (though as stated in the front of the book, it would be best for advanced or intermediate quilters). After viewing her quilts and thinking, "How will I ever be able to do this?," you'll be delighted to find "Lessons" and "Motifs" toward the end of the book that will help you take the spirit of the design and apply it to your own figures and fabric environments. The book is beautifully published and the photos are amazing. Takahara's spirit comes through the pages when she welcomes you into her studio and surroundings and shares a bit of her story and where her art has taken her so far. I love applique better than any other quilt form (at least to date), so I'm looking forward to playing with her figures and ideas and making stories of my own. (And by the way, there is a second book: "Story Quilts 2: Day by Day," which is already in my Wish List!) Many thanks to Stitch Publications for publishing yet another beautiful Japanese designers' work into an English format.

Lots of room for improvement

I'm about halfway through this book, and I am not impressed. I don't feel that the author follows good programming practices. Chapter 5 is a particular sore point. The examples in this chapter, which is the chapter on creating methods, show most of the work performed in the "main" function and only a few small details performed in subordinate methods. This is absolutely not the way programs should be designed. Even worse, some of the examples and some of the exercises use a class named NumberFormat. NumberFormat is an abstract base class that isn't intended to be directly used in applications, and his examples won't even compile with my version of Java because it won't allow the use of abstract base classes!

The example MusicWorldApp8 in chapter 8, with a main method that rambles on for 4 pages and over 30 local variables, is a terrible example of programming style. I don't know if the author was just being lazy or if he really doesn't know how to properly design programs.

I also feel that the book is overly wordy. There are more concise ways of explaining topics, so that reading the book wouldn't be so tedious.

thorough introduction to java

The text gives a thorough introduction to Java. Giving both the graphics and the numerical features. No prior knowledge of object oriented programming is assumed by the reader.

Hopefully you should find Java to be elegant, if you already know another language. The discourse goes into the object oriented nature of the classes. To be sure, if you know C, then having "all classes all the time" can initially seem overweight or overly complex. But the point is that Java, as an OO language, can let you code far more difficult and lengthy programs than a procedural language like C.

At the graphics level, the book lets you rapidly go into making simple programs that put up windows with various types of widgets. Straightforward. Though the layout managers in standard java are a little primitive. But at the level of treatment in the book, it may be hard to see this.

This book provides a clear and concise description of important concepts about programming in general and the Java programming language. I have found it a great tool to get me started. I only wish it had better descriptions of the more complicated concepts, more charts that had important methods (rather than referring you to Oracles API), and clarified which classes and methods would actual be useful in an actual programming setting versus as simple learning tools.

Great way to learn the language though.

A fabulous book

This is a wonderful, tasteful book about how babies are made (conceived, developed in utero, and born). Each page presents a child asking a question (e.g. "Where did I come from?", "How did I get into your tummy?", "How did the sperm get from Dad to you?", "When did I start to look like a baby?", "Could you feel me moving inside you?", "How did you know when I was ready to be born?", etc.) and a parent, sometimes a mom and sometimes a dad, answering the question with concise, tasteful, correct and easily understood words. As you can see from the picture of the cover, the book is done in bright primary colors and uses very sweet illustrations that you and your kids are sure to love. I really appreciated that the children and parents in this book come in different skin tones and don't look a bit dated (the book was published in 2004). I bought this book after a lot of research on the web, conducted frantically on the night of my son's sixth birthday, just after he asked me ALL the questions that I was not at all prepared to answer. We leave this book out in our room and read it when the kids ask us to do so. Our four-year old daughter is very interested in it, more so than our son. For now though, I do skip over the pages that deal specifically with sperm, eggs and private parts. She loves the book any way and is fine when I tell her I'll read her the rest of the pages when she's a bit older. I've read the whole thing to my son since he has asked lots of very detailed questions. I would highly recommend buying this book BEFORE your kids start asking questions though if you, like me, have already been grilled on how babies are made, this is a great book. For now this book is only available from the U.K. but it is definitely worth the extra shipping and wait time. It help that the book is very reasonably priced.

The strength of this book is that it is accurate, detailed, but most important: age appropriate for probably age 4 - 10. Some children's books on this topic gloss over conception in an unrealistic way. However, this one does a good job. The only thing wrong is that it states a baby grows in the Mom's "tummy." I crossed that out with pencil and wrote "uterus," in the copy I bought for my children. For the rest of the book however, correct terminology is used.

I recommend this title for primary schools, because even though it looks like a picture book for younger children, it would be perfect even for 10 - 12 year olds as well. Older children could be asked (after studying a unit on human reproduction) "what is wrong in this book?" They should be old enough to know babies grow in the uterus, not the stomach. Highly recommended.

Simple and concise

An excellent book which in a simple and concise way explains where babies come from.
Only note of imprecision is still using the childs idea that the baby is in some way connected to the tummy.
Though this is often a childs response since the stomach is much higher in the body than they realise.
Despite that well worth the cost and the colourful pages add interest.

LOVED IT!

A Neighbor from Hell by R.L. Mathewson is one of my favorite companion series. Every novel in this series has been laugh-out-loud hilarious and very steamy. Checkmate, the latest addition to this companion series, was no exception. It was another wonderfully written, extremely entertaining novel by R.L. Mathewson. I strongly encourage adults to check out this novel and this companion series.

Checkmate was super cute and super sexy. It's probably my favorite novel in this companion series to date. Personally, I'm a big fan of love-hate relationships, and in my opinion, Rory and Connor were the perfect characters to fill this role. I loved reading about Rory and Connor's past. Since preschool, Rory and Connor have made it their life's mission to drive each other crazy and make each other's lives miserable. In fact, they are so well known for their outrageous behavior that they are banned from most places around town.

I loved reading about the pranks they pulled on each other as kids and in current day. I also loved their witty banter. They were extremely entertaining to watch. But the absolute best thing about Rory and Connor is how much Connor loved and protected Rory through the years. Yes, it's his mission to make her a living hell, but no one else is allowed to hurt her. That might seem a little messed up, but his intentions were pure.

I gave Checkmate (A Neighbor from Hell #3) by R.L. Mathewson 5 STARS. You should definitely read this book if your looking for a hilarious, witty, feel good romance novel!

Just ok...but was a little disappointed

Am a big fan of. R.L books series . So I was looking forward to this book but I unlike the first two books I didn't enjoy the hero. Ok I get the whole fighting since they where kids thing, I also get his hidden love for her but what I didn't like was the way the story and characters played out. Conner was a nice guy, but had some major flaws that made him not very likable . At times he was cruel and. Pushed Rory so hard to get at her that it didn't matter that it bothered her (he would just say good thing she wasn't like other women and cry) It was like he was decent then a jerk. In the other two book Jason and Trevor where good guys they where cocky funny but charming. Conner wasn't ...yes once he started to marry Rory he did a 180 but by then the story did so many child hood flash backs that he still was hard to like. Not to mention a small other part that bothered me about Rory. She had been working with her dad for how long since she was 7 and some kind of building wonder that she outshines her own brothers that where the best around. Then once she starts working with Conner it's like she is a girl that shouldn't be working there .......seems like her very strong personality is tossed down the drain to make room for the heros big ego. There where a few laughs but it was nothing like the first two books it was the first time I found I had to skim threw a R.L book it. was a ok book but missing that charm , the chemistry and the special moments for a really great book.

Love this series!

I love this series!!! The Bradford family is hiliarious and even though they are crazy you find yourself wishing they were yours. lol This is a cousin of the family yet you can totally see the family resemblance. The two families are natured to fight hard and love harder, and always eat more lol making this series a Wonderfully Entertaining Read!!!!
