I am not going to speak about the thing that I had this book in master degree, this is another topic.
Still this book is the worst book i have ever read. Not only the topic is completely not interesting but also the structure of the book is confusing.
FInally it is writen by non native english speaker and it is impossible to read.
I do not recommend it to anyone.

Betrothed: A Faery Tale

To stop a war from starting, Prince “Puck” Chrysanths and Prince Sky Song of the Clouds are forced to marry. They have one month to get to know each other before the actual marriage. Unfortunately, Puck is determined not to go through with the wedding and runs away to the human world to spend time with his father. He didn’t expect Sky to follow him so when Sky’s stubbornness means he’ll stay in the human world for the month instead of going back to the fae world, Puck’s determined to make Sky’s stay a living hell. But he never anticipated he’d start having feelings for Sky and when danger comes from an unlikely source, Sky and Puck’s newly formed emotions are put to the test.

This was a super cute story. I loved that Sky was so charming and duty-bound. It was interesting to see him try to settle into the human world when he had no idea how anything worked. I liked that he was willing to endure all that to show Puck his dedication to his duty. At the same time, I liked Puck for the most part. I liked how he changed and how he realized he wasn’t the center of the world and there were other people who weren’t happy with the situation. Most of all, I enjoyed seeing Puck and Sky start to get close and realize they have a kinship together.

I really enjoyed this one but I’ll admit, it took me a while to really get into it. For some reason, I didn’t like Puck in the beginning. I found him extremely annoying, childish and selfish. At one point, I even stopped reading, read something else and then went back to the story. However, about a third of the way through, I really got into it and started liking Puck more to where I was hooked on the story. My only other complaint is that I wished we saw more of them in the fae world and how they cope after their marriage.

In the end, this was an endearingly sweet story about two faeries who are forced into an arranged marriage and have one month to get to know each other. With vastly different personalities, it was interesting to see how they got along and I absolutely adored Sky. I hope Ms. Woodson considers writing more about these characters because I’d love to get to see more of them in the fae community.

Sweet and romantic

This was such an adorable story! A nice, light read with good amounts of angst and fluff, with a good dose of humor mixed in. The summary is a little misleading as there isn't a whole lot of conflict regarding forces trying to keep them apart--it doesn't come up until late in the story, it's fairly minor, and it's resolved almost immediately. The main conflict comes from Puck not wanting to marry someone he doesn't even know and his struggles to accept that things might not be as bad as he thinks.

I loved Sky and how determined he was to do his duty and fulfill his betrothal for the good of the faery kingdom. Even with everything Puck throws at him to try and drive him away, he still resolutely sticks it out and does everything to try to adjust to a world that's completely foreign to him. Most of the story takes place in the human world, so not only does Sky have to deal with all the weirdness of this world he knows nothing about, being away from the faery world changes his appearance--his ears become rounded, his blue-black hair becomes a more natural dark black and he loses his faery wings, something that is a great loss to him. Luckily it's only temporary until he gets back to his own world, but he has to face a whole lot of overwhelming experiences that he's not prepared for. My heart just ached for him.

Puck starts out as being a childish, selfish jerk, but deep down he really is a kind-hearted person. Being half-human and half-faery is a struggle for him as it's hard for him to be accepted by either world. It doesn't help that he doesn't have the usual faery wings. I could empathize with his motivation for running away from his duties: he wants to marry for love, not honor a betrothal to a man he's never met simply to avoid an all-out faery war. He wants to have the kind of loving relationship his mother and father had. He's also afraid of losing his chances to continue visiting his father in the human world once he marries.

I wound up falling for both characters and desperately wanting to see them have a happy ending. When Puck finally realizes how much of a jerk he's being to Sky he resolves to at least give things a try. What follows is a very tentative, and very sweet love story. It was great seeing them falling for each other and really connecting. And there was a wonderful happily ever after for them. There are a few sex scenes--very well-written--but this is much more a slow-burning character-driven story than out and out erotica. I was actually surprised to find myself enjoying that, as I usually tend towards erotica romances, but the romance moved at a believable pace.

All in all, this is a lovely little story, perfect for when you want to read something light and romantic. Highly recommended.

After the war between the faery kingdoms ended, it was decided that heirs to the three victorious kingdoms would intermarry to prevent another war from occurring. When Prince Chrysanths of the Earth kingdom is informed of his upcoming marriage to the prince of the Air kingdom, he runs away preferring to marry for love. Will he change perform his duty or will this lead to the next faery war?

Prince Chrysanths is the heir apparent to the throne of the Earth faery kingdom. However, some in the kingdom believe he is not fit to sit on the throne, as he is actually also half human. One day while he taking lessons on the history of the great faery war, he is summoned to meet his mother. She informs him that the marriage clause is being invoked since the announcement of the engagement of the Water prince and an Air princess has been announced. Chrysanths is to be wed shortly to the prince of the Air kingdom. Chrysanths, who prefers to be known as Puck, sees this as an interference of wanting to marry for love and decides to run away to the human world and visit his father to wait out the engagement period and marriage date.

Prince Sky of the Air faery kingdom takes his duty seriously. While he is not thrilled with his impeding marriage, he sees no option but to go through with it. He figures that it could be worse…he could be marrying the Water prince. He travels to the Earth faery kingdom for the three-week engagement period to learn more about his betrothed. When Sky finds out that Puck has run away to the human world, he decides that he must go after the wayward prince and convince him to perform his duty and come back for the wedding. However, he finds that Puck is less than enthusiastic about the arranged marriage. The one bright spot seems to be Puck’s father Jim. He overhears Jim giving Puck advice about the situation and Sky is somewhat encouraged that things might work out after all. When Sky gets ill like his deceased father, will he be marrying Puck just to leave him a widow a short time later?

I found this modern day fairy tale thoroughly entertaining. It hits most of the themes of both a good romance and fairy tale. In a twist to the classic fairy godmother helping out the main character, it is Puck’s human father who fills that role. Sky fills in the character that is out of their element when he travels to the earth realm and finds things not totally to his liking. The Fire faeries, which were defeated in the faery war, also make their presence known. The only disappointment with that part of the story is that they seem to give up too easily once it becomes clear their plans did not work out. After working so many years to try to retake the faery kingdoms, you would think that their leader would do more than the equivalent of “Oh well. I tried my best” and give up.

The cover art by Anna Sikorska shows a shirtless man in blue jeans with dots where his missing wings would be. The young man has blue marking on his upper arms. I assume that this is possibly Sky with those markings but I’m not sure. It’s a nicely done cover for the book.

I love this author’s work

I was lucky enough to receive a review copy of this directly from the author in exchange for an honest review, so thanks Lindsay.

I love this author’s work , especially her fantasy stuff and this was no exception. Let me start by saying that I received an advance copy (prior to it being proofed) yet the story was so fun and action packed that I DID NOT NOTICE any typos. I was swept along with Lilah, Therrick and the ever delightful Kaika on their dragon fossil hunting adventures. The pacing was good with lots of action (but not too much action) entertaining & likable characters and fun dialogue.

This story is set in the Dragonblood series world and while the story is a standalone I would highly recommend you read the DB series first for a more fulfilling experience (actually I recommend you read it regardless ) as the background on the politcal situation and worldbuilding will just increase your enjoyment of this one. Also there are many characters from that series which appear in this book, indeed our grumpy hero is minor character in DB, and I just don’t know if you will fully appreciate how delightful these characters - dragon Bhrava Saruth(who I LOVE), Kaika, Sardelle, Ridge & Jaxi - are if you haven’t spent as much time with them as possible.

I liked our academic and and adventurous heroine Lilah and I really enjoyed getting to know our hero Therrick, because while he had certainly grown on me a little in DB but was not a favourite. However Lindsay did a great job of taking a less sympahtetic character and making me love him. His childhood, his background and his prior experience with witches meant he had reasons for his behaviour and attitudes – good ones. And his more recent experiences and Lilah helped soften him enough (but not too much) so that you can see reall growth. Although they are very different characters Therrick reminded me a little of Sicarius from Lindsay’s Emperor’s Edge series (What you haven’t read it? Go do so now – it is my fav of this author’s work). Kaika was as entertgaining as always

Made the character I liked least into one of the most interesting

The story's hero is full of gruff edges -- and worse -- and gets to put them all to good use in this novel set in the Dragon Blood world. Many well-known characters from the earlier novels make appearances, but it isn't necessary to read the earlier books to enjoy this one. However, if you have red the earlier stories and already developed a distaste for Therrick, you'll be tickled to watch that perception unravel!

Another side project on the Dragon Blood Gang Clan of misfits.

Nothing makes me quite as happy as seeing a new Buroker book come out, and especially one that features one of the Dragon Blood clan.

This book is special, because it's about Colonel Therrik, who is my guilty pleasure. I've always loved it whenever Therrik shows up, irritated once again with Ridge, becoming unglued by Ridge's flippant and irreverent personality, and speechless (or, actually not so speechless usually) with horror at the love that every other person on the planet seems to have for him and the awe in which he is held.

So, it's kind of a poetic justice when Ridge's cousin is assigned by Angelus to investigate some dragon fossils unearthed by the Magroth Prison gang in their unending search for more power crystals. Lilah Zirkander is a dorky academic widow, a paleontologist with bad jokes and a love of adventure novels she shares with her students. She is also as irritated with Ridge as Therrik is, for similar reasons as he is. Zirkander has outshown her in her quest to be famous for her accomplishments in her field, and she is as tired of her students asking her to get his autograph for them as Therrik is of Zirkander showing him up on the field of honor.

Therrik, as annoying as he is, is also a man of honor, and has worked his whole adult life to overcome the terrible childhood he lived through, which included his father murdering his mother while she tried to protect the young Therrik from being attacked. We get to learn just how bad his life was. Despite being from a noble family, he ends up on the streets after the murder, becomes a thug and a criminal, and eventually is given the choice of going to prison or joining the military. Joining the military gave him the opportunity to become the man he should have been, though with the personality of a bipolar rattlesnake.

There are some classic Buroker scenes in this book. One of my favorites is the moment he discovers that Lilah shares his dislike of Ridge. It's the first time Lilah has seen his smile, and his smile is off the charts. She is floored by how handsome he is. He is also captivated when she demonstrates her knowledge of his weapons collection, the eras the weapons are from, and gives him little details that even he didn't know. She hates teaching as much as he does. The list goes on, and he is smitten immediately.

The rest of the book follows what is not exactly a Buroker formula, but is the heartstopping action she is famous for. No one in the world writes action scenes like she does. I can't imagine where she dreams these things up, but they are always over the top, and edge of the seat thrilling. Whenever I get my hands on one of her new books, I always wait until I have the time to sit and do nothing else but read it straight through, because I will die of impatience if I have to put the book down for some mundane reason like working for a living.

This book is, of course, 5 Stars. Buroker can't write anything less. She is one of my favorite authors, and I will always buy her books without even reading the synopses, or the reviews. They are always wonderful. Whether she is writing as Lindsey Buroker or Ruby Lionsdrake, she's the best. I have devoted an entire Kindle (I have 9 of the things) solely to her. No wasted time searching around in categories looking for her stuff.

Buy this book. If you love the Dragon Blood folks, you'll love this look at one of the characters who has made Ridge's life Hell, on occasion. It's a pleasure to see him so discomfited by the fact that his cousin has fallen in love with his mortal enemy. It's just a pleasure. My only regret is that Deathmaker doesn't show up at any point. Then, the book would have been completely perfect. I love Ridge and Sardelle, but my favorite characters are the flawed ones. The misfits. Buroker writes those people like no one's business. I hope she isn't done with this group. I'm certainly not finished with them.
